Giles Deacon Is NOT Designing Outfits For The Spice Girls At The Olympics Closing Ceremony

The Spice Girls go matchy-matchy on tour

Yesterday the interweb was buzzing with news that Giles Deacon is kitting out each and every one of the Spice Girls for their performance at the Olympics Closing Ceremony. Fashion maven Grace Coddington took to her Facebook page to declare that Geri Halliwell, Melanie C, Emma Bunton, Melanie B AND Victoria Beckham will be swathed in Giles designs when the shindig takes place on 12th August (that’s this Sunday, y’all!).

Grazia Towers was, naturally, squealing with excitement at the thought of the fab five working matchy-matchy ensembles in the Brit designer’s quirky and colourful style. BUT before getting tooo carried away, Grazia Dailygave those-in-the-know a quick call. So is the news really true?

A big fat ‘no’ was the answer from sources close to Camp Beckham and whisperings from Giles HQ agree that this is indeed not the case. Just to seal the deal, Mel B’s stylist Stephanie Kradjian tweeted  this morning that ‘this information is absolutley not true’.

Despite the fact we won’t see five Giles outfits come Sunday night, it is still believed that Victoria will be wearing a creation by Mr Deacon, as Grazia Daily reported last week. VB tantalisingly tweeted: ‘Morning fitting with @gilesgilesgiles, cuddle with @kegrand bunny!! X vb’, suggesting she’s working with Giles and Katie Grand to rustle up an Olympics treat.

If true, this will make quite the fashion moment, not least because it will be a treat to see VB wearing something other than her own designs. She’s worn Giles numbers inImage the past – who could forget the salmon-coloured reptile print dress from the A/W ’09 that she wore back in 2009, par exemple, as well as the near-identical black version?

So will Giles knock up another sexy short corset dress, a dramatically frou-frou gown or a Posh-appropriate LBD for Lady Becks? Thoughts on a postcard please!
